ARBA Peachtree Classic
Carrollton GA

On October 24 & 25 ARBA held the Peachtree Classic in Carrollton GA. The show was a resounding success but it was a little shocking for a Texas girl to find pitch darkness and frost on the ground at 7 am. It was also shocking to find out how long it takes to drive 800 miles. It takes even longer when your traveling companion is pregnant and needs a restroom every 2 hours and the puppies you are traveling with have no concept of "going" while on a leash.
On Saturday both dogs behaved perfectly and each earned 2 more CAC-UC towards their championships, Sunday was a different story Alfredo decided it was too hot to show and literally had to be dragged around the ring. One judge took pity on him and gave him Winners (a CAC-US) and the Breed. Our gentleman judge thought attitude was very important and Alfredo's total lack combined with a growth spurt that made his butt about 2-3" higher than his shoulders caused him to get a very good rating but no CAC-US.

Angelina & Alfredo gait around the ring
Angel (aka Devil in Disguise) decided to have enough attitude for both of them and every other dog at the show. I stood at ringside horrified while she decided it was the perfect time to jump on her handler, Sharon, and have a tug of war with her T-Shirt! She then decided that Sharon's kneecap was a perfect chew toy. You can imagine my suprise when the judge not only gave her Winners but Best of Breed!!! Our judge loved her structure and to quote him "she moves beautifully...when you can see it"!

The week following the Peachtree we headed to Florida for the Snowbird Classic. As usual Angelina loved the entire process and Alfredo was "ho-hum" about it. The show was a resounding success with both dogs earning their championships and Angel going on to a Group 4 placement. This makes them the first American Bred Pyrenean Mastiffs to earn ARBA Championships. We are very proud of them and we now have set our sites on earning an IABKC title on each of them.
